AgSmart 2024: Revolutionizing Farming Through Technology & Data

July 16, 2024, Olds, AB - AgSmart 2024 is designed with the modern farmer in mind, aiming to provide producers with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s competitive agricultural landscape, on July 30 and July 31 at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology. This year’s 5th anniversary edition of the expo is set to be bigger and better than ever, offering an unparalleled opportunity to delve into the latest advancements in agricultural technology and data-driven farming practices.

The expo focuses on innovation, demonstration and education with a unique outdoor conference-style format. Highlights include more than 100 interactive exhibits, live demos from drones to field-scale equipment demos, expert-led educational sessions, and a variety of special events on-site.

“We are looking forward to welcoming producers and the industry to the 5th anniversary edition of AgSmart,” says Stacy Felkar, event co-manager, AgSmart. “The industry continues to evolve and AgSmart is the ideal opportunity to showcase the ag tech sector of the industry”.

The 40+ educational sessions have a cropping and livestock focus with topics ranging from adoption of genomic tools to controlled environment agriculture and integrating technology and data into traditional farming practices. AgSmart is also a great opportunity to learn more about the Smart Farm and its projects, which will be featured in the Olds College interactive exhibit, educational sessions and demonstrations.

AgSmart will be hosting a special screening of Farms of the Future, presented by BASF and Richardson Pioneer, on the evening of July 29. This Tyler Duffy documentary dives into the past, present, and future of agriculture to see how much technology has changed farming since the Technological Revolution began with the creation of the internet, and how this has helped farmers become more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

This year, AgSmart is welcoming Alberta Crop Diagnostic Day on July 31. This collaborative field day with Alberta Grains, Alberta Pulse Growers, and Alberta Canola will feature informative sessions and a variety of demonstration plots showcasing pulse, grains, and canola.
