Manitoba Farmer Wellness Program achieves charitable status

Wednesday, December 11, 2024 (LA SALLE, MB) – The Manitoba Farmer Wellness Program (MFWP) proudly announces it has been granted charitable status by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This milestone will help the organization expand its vision of mental wellness for Manitoba farm families and farm employees.

“Achieving charitable status is an exciting step forward,” says Marcel Hacault, MFWP’s chair. “It not only strengthens our accountability but also expands our ability to raise funds and better serve Manitoba’s farming community. We are excited about the new opportunities this brings and deeply grateful for the continued support of our community.”

With this new status, MFWP can now issue tax receipts for eligible donations, offering sponsors a meaningful way to contribute to the well-being of Manitoba farmers while benefiting from tax deductions. This also positions MFWP to access grants and funding opportunities that require a registered charity designation.

The MFWP offers up to nine confidential counselling sessions per year to farm families and employees, delivered by counsellors with backgrounds in agriculture.
