Kim Moffat
Farm Wellness Consultant | Maple Grove Counselling & Consulting

Growing up on the farm taught me the importance of hard work and determination. I also learned of the importance of watching over your neighbor to make sure they were doing just as well as you. Undoubtably that shaped my desire to help others.

After completing the Psychiatric Nursing program at the Brandon Mental Health Center School of Nursing, I married my partner Brent, a young farmer from our area. We began our farming career, first in cereals and then turned our focus to cattle. Nothing made us happier than seeing our 3 children enjoying all the benefits of farm life. Sadly however, BSE had a devasting impact on our operation and eventually we were faced with the difficult reality of needing to exit the profession that we loved so dearly.

During this time, I was working in various roles helping people in crisis. In 2000 my two passions collided, and I began work with the Manitoba Farm, Rural and Northern Support Services. For twenty years I worked with producers and their families offering counselling, support information and crisis intervention.
