Saskatchewan, March 2022 – The Do More Agriculture Foundation (Do More Ag), national leader, voice and champion for mental health in Canadian agriculture is pleased to announce the election of Lauren Martin as new chair of the board of directors.
Lauren takes over as Chair from co-founding member, Himanshu Singh; who the board and community thanks for his years of service and steady leadership.
“I am honored to work with fellow board members and staff to support the mental wellness of our farmers and families.” says Martin, “this is an industry I care deeply about and it does not thrive unless our people do. I am grateful to the board of directors for entrusting me with this important work.”
Lauren brings a fitting background for this chapter in the foundation’s history. Raised on a farm in Southern Ontario, she has lived the reality of agriculture’s highs and lows. By education and by background Lauren is a lawyer, and will bring that to bear in setting strategic direction and housekeeping for Do More Ag, enabling the organization’s success in years to come. For the past several years, Lauren has worked for various agricultural trade associations in Ottawa where she relies on personal relationships, collaboration and goodwill to further the goals of the industry. Lauren’s teamwork mindset will ensure that partners from coast to coast to coast are rowing in the same direction to meet the mental health needs of Canadian farmers.
“It's been a privilege to be a part of Do More Ag's journey from inception and seeing it mature into the organization it has become. That said, there is still much work to be done to continue to push for better mental health for all Canadian farmers. In addition to her noteworthy professional experience and background, I've witnessed the passion Lauren Martin brings to the cause. Under her leadership, I truly believe that Do More Ag is in great hands for its next chapter,” says Himanshu Sing, Do More Ag previous board chair.
Do More Ag’s 8 board members include:
